“February can be a "blah month.” I was out and about the other day,
when two women passed me by in the shopping mall, and I overheard
one of them make that statement to the other. As they went their way
and I went mine, I thought, “Yes, February, with all the cold, snow and gray skies, at least here in Wisconsin, is indeed a gloomy and blah month.” With this in mind, I came upon a mother, seated on a bench, using a stuffed animal to play “peek-a-boo” with her young child. The little girl, full of glee, laughed heartily every time the mother uttered the word, “peek-a-boo.” Observing this lovely scene, I all of a sudden felt sorry for those 2 women I heard complaining and I also was aware and ashamed of my getting pulled into their negativity. February is not a blah month at all. This month, like every month, is a wonderful time to be alive.
To awake to a new morning, regardless of the weather outside, is a privilege to be enjoyed to the fullest. To be alive! To breathe in fresh air! To have the faculty to think, to learn, to love, to dream and make dreams come true! Are these not the things that inspire us to make each day count?
It’s like the recent Super Bowl when the lights went out for about thirty minutes. Everything in the New Orleans Superdome seemed to come to a sudden stop. Players sat on the field. Coaches roamed the sidelines. Fans didn’t do much of anything. Without energy, nothing happened. As soon as the power was restored, the game continued, the fans cheered, and the spectacle was in full swing. In a way, life is like that. We need to put in the energy to make things happen. Negative thoughts sap energy. Positive thinking powers us up and electrifies those around us.
There are no blah months, only months waiting for us to add the energy. This month of February, I urge you to crank it up, make things happen, and, remember, to love life to the fullest.
Love,
Linda
