My first patch of psoriasis
showed up on my back when I
was only three years old (I
always thought I was four
but my mom recently let me
know it was even earlier
than that!) For over 30
years, I tried almost every
type of treatment ever
thought of. About the only
one I never dared try was
where you would bathe with
the little fish that would
"eat at" your patches...not
for me!!! My family has
spent a lot of money on
these treatments that were
considered "the best" by my
three different
dermatologists. I had thick
patches that grew
consistently and covered a
large portion of my body,
including my entire scalp,
and I would break out with
new spots regularly.
Around 2003 I started using
L'BRI. When I would share
L'BRI with my dermatologists
they would say, "whatever
that is isn't going to work
so you should use this
instead." From there they
would proceed to give me a
prescription for what
"everyone else was using."
Since I had established
relationships with these
people, I believed what they
were saying. So off I went,
continuing my daily routine
of putting my medications on
and using L'BRI. I also did
light treatments, "fake
baked", and even went as far
as doing laser treatments.
My patches would get
"zapped" and get third
degree burns. They would
blister up, take about a
week to heal (which was
pretty painful), and then go
away completely for about
2-3 weeks before returning
twice as bad. Boy did I
look forward to that time
where I knew I was going to
be cleared up!
In 2012, lots more money
spent on treatments,
continuing with the same
regimes and seeing no
progress, the light bulb
FINALLY WENT ON!!!!! There
was a scalp treatment that I
would have my mom or husband
to weekly because it would
clear me up for a few days
afterward (and I loved that
feeling!) This particular
instance, my mom had just
put these two "concoctions"
on my scalp that would make
it burn and get greasy.
After letting them
"marinate" overnight on my
head underneath my shower
cap, she took a fine-tooth
comb and scraped my scalp
and removed all the thick
patches that I had, causing
a good portion of my head to
bleed, and burn even more!
Even though I've always
considered myself pretty
tough from playing sports, I
cried like a little baby!
Something about that
particular treatment that
day made me realize enough
was enough. Maybe it was
all the pain??!!! I got up,
took all of my medications I
had (easily worth over
$3000), and threw them in
the trash. After the
initial shock of actual
SEEING how much money I
had just thrown away, I
decided to "fire my
dermatologists" and use only
L'BRI. I'm not gonna lie
and say that was an easy
thing to do. I had been so
used to my routine with
those treatments since I was
a little girl that it was
hard for me to let that go.
That's not something that I
expect people to fully
understand.
Since then, my cabinets and
shelves ONLY HAVE
L'BRI products
on them! After several
weeks of trying different
products on my scalp and
body, I was able to see what
products worked best on my
psoriasis. I have not been
to a dermatologist since
2012 and have no intention
of going back. My entire
body (scalp and all)
is more cleared up than it
has ever been in my ENTIRE
LIFE!!! I repeat, MY ENTIRE
LIFE!!!!
